Lineage Retribution Game Server
About
Lineage Retribution, originally LineageDC, was a lineage one private server created by smelf that went live on July 9th, 2008. To give him more time to code, smelf handed the server over to Tricid sometime around October 2008 who has been running it and programming for it since.
The server was created with the intentions of being a pre-loa live like server at a slightly higher pace and has held to that philosophy since. There are a few customizations that live doesn't have and a few loa items mixed in here and there, but for a player desiring a live like experience that is stable, long term, reliable and trust worthy, we consider ourselves the best option available, and we have a history to prove it.
Connect
First, download and install the official US client. This is the same client currently being used on US Live and if you play there, the same client can be used to connect here. Mac users should also have no trouble connecting. Non-US clients more than likely will not be able to connect however.
For 64-bit try adding this: 3rd Party 64-bit Fix
Now create a copy of the shortcut from the US Live executable on your desktop, right click on the shortcut, select "Properties", and add a space and the IP address 66.135.42.52 after the existing text in the target text field.
You can now double-click on this shortcut and log into the game. To create an account, simply type in the username and password you wish, and a new account will be created for you. If you still have client setup/stability issues, see this thread.
- No exploiting. If you come across a bug in a normal hunt, you're best bet is to report it immediately and avoid using any bug/exploit to your advantage (PvP or PvE). Bugs will happen, we understand that, and we appreciate them being found. Finding a bug, keeping it secret, and privately using it to your / your bloodpledge's benefit will result in punishment.
- No bots. No automated actions allowed. We'll adopt the one click one action policy similar to World of Warcraft and their interface scripting that's built in to the game. We know several people use macro's and key bindings, that we don't mind. If any single button click results in more than one in game action, however, we will consider this a bot, and no longer a macro, and you will be punished.
- No GM / Monitor interference. This means that LinDC 'staff' will not: make you items, boost your character, kill something for you, check bosses for you, kill a player for you, spawn something for you, etc. We won't do it, so don't ask. The only exception being for fixes or workarounds (example: collies aren't spawning, so if you want one it'd be ok for a GM to spawn some for you to tame, but not create and give you a pet collar). This rule applies to a GM's "legit" characters as well.
- Nothing illegal allowed on the server or server related projects, and no illegal action towards the game server or server related projects. This includes: no hacking, no key loggers, no viruses, and no posting copyrighted materials in game, in the game's forums, websites, or code base.
- Use common sense. We don't want to have to spell out a 20 page long list of rules, it shouldn't be necessary. If you feel something may be wrong or against policy, don't do it (or ask). If you feel something is closely related to the above rules...don't do it (or ask for clarification). Any punishments dealt will assume a certain level of common sense on the player's part, and ignorance (or mental retardation) will not be a valid excuse (even for those of you we know ride the short bus).
Punishments:
This can include any of: bans (temporary or permanent), jail time, hell time, removal of items / exp, or any other action the staff deem appropriate
Bans:
Most bans will be account related only. Depending on the circumstances for the ban, the account in question, or all accounts related to the player may be banned.
If you screw up and get banned, you are allowed to make a new account and start over. IP bans will only be enforced in extreme cases (dupers and botters mainly).
Final notes:
We don't like banning players any more than we like baby sitting players. Just play the game, don't be a retard, have fun, and chances are you'll never even have to talk to a GM. If you do something that we don't agree with, either breaking one of the above rules or something we haven't thought of to put as a rule, you'll usually get plenty of warning before a ban happens. If you're the type to constantly push the boundaries of rules, looking for any gray area possible, you will more than likely be punished for being an annoying nub.
Grief play outside of towns has been intentionally left out of the rules because this is a PvP server, HOWEVER, if the staff determine you are being retarded, just because it isn't defined here does not mean it isn't punishable. Just be advised any 'annoying' behavior done in a way where PvP recourse isn't possible could very well be classified as grief play and handled appropriately. If your role playing desire is to be a jerk, we won't stop that with GM actions, just be a legitimate jerk.
These rules are subject to change at any time, but we will do our best to let any major changes be known to the player base in advance.

- -chgname newname will change a players character name //not yet implemented
- -chgpass will change a character's account login password //not yet implemented
- -pbuff when active will give a player quite a few powerful buffs //disabled except during GM discretion
- -karma show your karma points
- -bug [message] lets you report a bug conveniently in game
Differences Vs. Other Pservers
- We don't wipe. Ever. The worse we've had is a 3 day rollback from a compromised GM account
- Experience. There is well over 50 years combined of programming, admin, and gaming experience behind our team.
- We're reliable. Our worse downtime was overnight due to a major power outage at the server location that the UPS couldn't keep up with. Our maintenance times are usually seconds - minutes long, and it is extremely rare for us to have unexpected server downtime/failures. We usually run 1-2 weeks without a reset.
- Complete professional solution. We have a highly secure server, high tech backup solutions including offsite mysql replication and automatic backups of the database and server files. We're located on a true dedicated server with way more bandwidth (up AND down) than we could ever use.
- We don't fail.
FAQ
- Why the name change? I've always respected and appreciated NCSoft for bringing us lineage 1. While I feel pservers like ours are on solid ground legally, I was concerned about our old domain name being in violation of trademark infringement. I know there are other sites (lineagedb, lineageone) that they seem to have never bothered but I wanted to play it safe. The new name will go in to effect when the new site does, and lineagedc.com will be a redirect to the new site unless/until ncsoft complains. At that point everyone should be accustomed to the new name (if it even happens. NCSoft seems to be truly awesome about pservers)
Lineage Retribution Wiki
About
The Lineage Retribution wiki was created to give our players a more useful website borrowing features from places such as lineagedb, LinLib, lineageone, and linweb. It is still (and always will be) a work in progress. It is probably the best resource around that any pserver has created just for its own use.
Currently you can browse or search through every monster and item in game and obtain useful information. You can use the search box at the top or the links on the left. Enjoy!
Rules
- All pages that are user editable may be edited by users, obviously, but we do ask that our users have common decency and not use this purely to trash other users. It will be assumed that users are doing their best efforts when updating any guide like content that the subject matter is accurate.
- Please do not attempt to manually edit any of the automatically generated pages except where explicitly allowed via templates or includes. These pages are automatically generated so any custom content added will be overwritten
- Any offenders of these rules may result in write priviledges being taken away from that user, or said user being completely banned from the website (and game server if deemed appropriate)
Guide
Players / users can create their own pages or help edit other pages on this site. I will attempt to work on providing a basic guide to help you get started on this. Here's some basics for now.
If a page doesn't exist, like a player name when you click on it from one of our lists, it will prompt you with the option of creating that page. Feel free to do so if you like.
Same for blood pledge pages.
Player pages should be in the format of Player:Playername and blood pledges should be BloodPledge:pledgename. If you don't follow that naming convention (and be case sensitive just in case), your content could be left out of areas of the site!
There are also a lot of custom tags being created for players to pull live data to include in these pages. So far the only ones done are for our top lists and who's online, but I'll work on the player oriented ones soon.
